Descriptions:Oncostatin M (OSM) is a glycoprotein belonging to the interleukin-6 family of cytokines that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. OSM encodes a growth regulator, which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It stimulates proliferation of AIDS-KS cells. OSM regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells. OSM is considered as a pleiotropic cytokine that initiates its biological activities through specific cell surface receptors. The low affinity LIF receptor that shares the similarity of containing protein gp130 has now been identified to be a component of a high- affinity OSM receptor that will transduce OSM signals. OSM has also been shown to play a role in both pro and anti-inflammatory actions. OSM may also be involved in many biometabolism processes including liver development, haematopoeisis, inflammation, bone formation and destruction and possibly CNS development.

Descriptions:Interleukin-2 (IL 2), also known as T cell growth factor, is a member of the cytokine family, including IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21. Each member of this family has a bundle of four α spirals. IL-2 signals through IL-2 receptors, which are complexes of dendritic subunits called α,β, and γ

Descriptions:Chemokine (C-X-C motif) Ligand 1 Protein (CXCL1) is a growth factor for melanoma cells and a chemotaxin for neutrophils and a member of the CXC chemokine family that is a potent neutrophil attractant and activator and is also active toward basophils. CXCL1 is expressed by macrophages, neutrophils and epithelial cells; it has neutrophil chemoattractant activity.

Descriptions:Bone Morphogenetic Protein-4 (BMP-4) is an extracellular multifunctional signaling cytokine that is also a member of the TGF-β family. BMP-4 can bind with the TGF-β receptor and trigger SMAD protein signal transduction. BMP-4 has a significant expression in the prostate, it plays a vital role in the development of mesoderm into bones and the development of the epidermis and Dorsal-Ventral axis.

Descriptions:The transforming Growth Factors beta (TGF beta) family of cytokines are ubiquitous, multifunctional, and essential to survival. They play the central roles in growth, development, inflammation, repair, and host immunity. The mammalian TGF beta isoforms (TGF beta 1, beta 2 and beta 3) are secreted as potential precursors and possess a variety of cell surface receptors and produces at least two mediate signal transductions.
