Additional Information

Background Activin A, a member of TGF-β superfamily, is a disulfide-linked dimer protein, which was originally purified from gonadal fluid as protein to stimulate the release of pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Inhibins are involved in regulating many different functions, such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythrocyte differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Many studies have shown that it can play a significant role in inducing islet β cell differentiation under the combined action of other factors. The recombinant Human Activin A has sequence identity with Mouse and Rat Activin A protein.
